Croatian sailors use the words “mirno more” for to wish others a “peaceful sea” – this saying gives us, the world's largest sailing project for socially disadvantaged children and young people not only a special meaning, but also its name. Every year, hundreds of people in a fleet of around 100 ships send a message of peace and tolerance. Those who are disadvantaged in their everyday life take center stage. Our goal: to overcome exclusion and throw prejudice overboard!
The project was founded in 1994 to bring together refugees, children, and young people from the former territories of Yugoslavia and to promote peaceful coexistence. Today, the mirno more peacefleet is a sustainable platform for diverse target groups and social causes. Participants include war orphans and refugee children, as well as people with various disabilities and social, emotional, and other special needs. Participating ships come from numerous support organizations and sponsors, as well as Croatian-Bosnian-Serbian, Slovenian, Slovakian, Ukrainian and German partner associations.
